Thanking him for the gift of the "Partridges from dear Newstead - be assured that I feel all your kind acts most sensibly & most gratefully & value them doubly as I know they originate in your regard for the memory of him we both loved so well! --You will believe too that I value the very feathers of a Newstead Bird!" commenting on her strong feelings of gratitude for the restorations done at Newstead Abbey; asking "whether the omission of 'Newstede' was right - I suppose it could not easily be introduced - but if you & Mrs. W. think it w'd be better to leave it I will try if it can be effected in the next."
