Wondering why he has not written to her; mentioning that she "had an unbounded wish ... to have seen the King of Prussia and Dr. Oliver Goldsmith"; worrying that she has not heard from her son Anthony, and superstitiously noting that his dog, "all he had to leave behind him, is suddenly dead"; telling him that "the commotions of France strike at [her] peace"; expounding on her first reading of his poetry and the positive effect it had on her; discussing her visit to Loudoun; mentioning the poet Janet Little; hoping his new baby has been born.
