Summary
Saying he "did all I could with Mr. Merivale yesterday, but of course you will see that my position with him is one of delicacy. I fear he will not vote at all. He has strong antipathy to [yr?] Church opinions, for his reply was 'He should readily command my vote for any other Constituency then the University of Oxford'. I sincerely hope all danger is now over."
