Saying he will forward "the letter & bundle for Jefferson" and that he included letters to some of his friends introducing Jefferson; enclosing a letter from Dr. Rush concerning advice to Jefferson with his studies; telling her that he had "applied flannel to the part, & soaked a great deal before the fire" for his "attack of rheumatism" and "it carried it off compleatly in four days, and I am persuaded the attack at Monticello might have been shortened in the same way had it been suspected to be rheumatism;" adding "our campaign opens on Monday, for which we are all preparing."
