Asking Mr. Randolph or Martha "to give orders at the proper time in March for the bottling [of Jefferson's] cyder"; also asking Martha to send a sample of sheeting to him; describing "the prettiest improvement in the Forte piano"; telling her that he received news from Mr. Eppes that her sister Maria's baby died, and Maria herself is "still ill"; anticipating his return home; calling politics "such a torment that I would advise every one I love not to mix with them"; reporting that he has "changed [his] circle [in Philadelphia] according to [his] wish; abandoning the rich, & declining their dinners & parties, and associating entirely with the class of science."
