Summary
Concerning an eventual successor to Yznardi and discussing the possibility that the successor might be Mr. Hackley; referring to an application by Tarleton Webb for a place as a midshipman saying "we shall not have any large vessels during the prevalence of present opinions and the command of a gun boat is a poor prospect;" discussing repairs to a dam which he would like to be under the supervision of Mr. Randolph; cautioning her in her correspondence with Mr. Hackley "not to commit my name, of which Meade could make great use;" suggesting she encourage him to cultivate the friendship of Yznardi "as he might be induced by that to make an opening for him."
