Summary
Congratulating her on the arrival of the mockingbird: "learn all the children to venerate it as a superior being in the form of a bird, or as a being which will haunt them if any harm is done to itself or its eggs"; hoping that the multiplication of cedar trees will attract more mockingbirds; informing her that his furniture arrived safely in Richmond; noting that "Maria is here, but too lazy to write. She says in excuse that you do not write to her"; referring to a letter from Beverly Randolph and the postponement of treaty negotiations at Niagara.
