Summary
Saying he is "sorry to learn that [her] garden is dismantled," and instructing Mr. Randolph to put the repair of her garden before "every other work [Jefferson has] proposed"; reporting that he has given up his house in Philadelphia and "taken a small one in the country on the banks of the Schuylkill"; telling her that he is sending "superfluous furniture" and most of his books to Monticello; sending his "best affections" to Mr. Randolph and the children.
