Speaking of his love for her and "the delight with which [he] recall[s] the various scenes thro which [they] have passed together"; mentioning his desire to "exchang[e] labour, envy, and malice, for ease, domestic occupation, and domestic love and society"; wishing he could relinquish his office and return to Monticello; hoping that Mr. Randolph "will find a convenience in making only leisurely preparations for a settlement" [i.e. that he will take his time in moving his family from Monticello to a new home].
