Gently chiding her for not writing to him more often; telling her, "I am anxious to know what books you read, what tunes you can play, and to receive specimens of your drawing"; discussing her visits to the Rittenhouse family and advising her to "conduct [her]self with so much attention to the family as that they may never feel themselves incommoded by" her presence; asking her to send copies of her drawings so he "may judge how [she] come[s] on"; reporting that he has been experiencing ill health.
