Enclosing a letter (not extant) "from an old Negro woman liberated by Mr Allexander Donelson"; writing that "all her family but herself & husband has left her for Liberia -- her son & daughter, John & Celia, has reached Liberia -- and have lost their three children"; writing "[t]he old woman is anxious to reach them" and asking Lewis to give her letter to "the secretary of the colonization society in Washington with a request that he ... have it sent to them."
