Notes
Lady de Clifford was governess to Princess Charlotte from 1805 to 1813.
Part of a collection of letters relating to the funeral of Queen Caroline. Letters in the collection have been described individually in separate catalog records; see collection level record for more information.
The year of writing is not provided, however in 1809 September 5th fell on a Tuesday; it did again in 1815, however by 1815 Lady de Clifford was no longer with Princess Charlotte.

Thanking her for her letter and telling her to "never call foolish your natural and amiable feelings toward people you love when you are under the necessity of parting from them. I felt equally as you did when we parted as I am always very very sorry when I see you not so often as I could wish it;" discussing friends and family and referring to Lady de Clifford and Mrs. Udney.
