Addressed to "Captain Jones / Kings Hussars / Queen's Elms / Brompton / London." The London address is crossed out, with "Flanders" written next to it.
It is unclear whether the "Royal Highness" addressed in the letter is Ernest Augustus's father, George III (who is no longer ruling because he has gone mad), or his brother, the Prince Regent (George IV).
Part of a collection of letters from Ernest Augustus, King of Hanover, to Queen Charlotte (his mother) and Captain Charles Jones. Letters are described in individual records; see record for MA 709 for more information.
Signed "Ernest" on the address panel.
The body of the letter is addressed to "Your Royal Highness," but the address panel is to Capt. Jones. Jones has also added an autograph note at the bottom of the letter. Ernest Augustus may be sending this draft of a letter to Capt. Jones for feedback?
