Referring to letters he received from "our mutual friend Prevost" which discuss possible appointments "in the event of a peace with America;" saying he will do whatever he can to help but "I lament to say that unless our Helmsmen are changed I see very little prospect of my being attended to...;" adding that he has been confined to his house for the last 7 weeks after a fall from his horse.
