Summary
Concerning objections to a plan for a Military College on Gibraltar; referring to Quebec and saying that there is a "sufficiency of excellent Schools there for the education of the Children of British Officers, and therefore on that score no academy of the nature of the one proposed for Gibraltar would be wanted; altho, if hereafter the judicious policy of encouraging the Canadians to enter our Military Service were adopted, it might then become a very desirable object, and one worthy of the consideration of the Public to establish such a Seminary there, in the mean while that consideration cannot operate against the establishment of Gibraltar, which is so urgently wanted and stands clearly altogether by itself;" adding that he hopes Robinson's interview with Mr. Wilberforce will be "the first step towards it;" asking him to call on him in order to hear the results of the meeting.
