Acknowledging receipt of his letter and expressing regret at his "disappointment about the Lieutenant Government of Upper Canada, but am perfectly of opinion, that, if it does not suit you to accept of the Command of the Forces alone in both provinces, you cannot too soon intimate to the Commander in Chief your intention of giving up under existing circumstances all idea of going out there."
