Writing "in the utmost confidence to acquaint you, that my Father is most favorably disposed towards you, and that from the most undoubted authority, I know all will end comfortably in your return to your district very shortly;" referring to a letter "which caused me so many a bitter reproach...had it but been suffered to proceed to its destination, my opinion would have been proved correct, in the Court Martial being wholly avoided;" asking him to ..."cheer up, better times are not distant, and therefore beg to forget the past."
