It is likely that the correspondence to which the Duke of Kent refers related to the appeal he made to the Prince of Wales on behalf of General Burton who had been arrested for a breach of military discipline. General Burton was court martialed, cashiered on January 10, 1804 but pardoned and restored the following day.
