Transmitting to him the reply from Lord Melville not approving Wetherall's son's application to be assigned to the Arrogant; saying, however, that "notwithstanding this failure in the accomplishment of our wishes on his behalf, I shall not fail to continue my exertions trusting that perseverance will effect what a just consideration of his Claims & Services does not appear to produce in the mind and actions of Lord Melville towards him."
