Summary
Discussing regimental business; discussing his father's ill health; saying "The King's health is still a subject of serious alarm to those like me are devotedly attached to him, for although he is certainly much recovered, the illness alas! has left behind some very deep traces, which I fear will ever stick by him, and there is every reason I think to apprehend that any casual cause that occurs to affect his nerves, may again upset him. I trust however in Providence who has so long watched over him for the best and at the same time endeavor to prepare myself, and those of my sisters who place the most confidence in me, for the possibility of the worst occurring;" discussing certain applications that have been made to him for assistance to regimental families; commenting on the expected declaration of War with Spain; continuing to discuss Regimental business and outlining details of letters he wishes him to write on his behalf; saying that he would prefer not to communicate directly with anyone in Halifax but would rather only communicate directly with Wetherall; adding a postscript in which he discusses correspondence from Paddy O'Brien.
