Summary
Telling him that Parliament had just granted him £12,000 per year "but at present it is not intended to add any of those larger & liberal allowances which the Duke of Clarence has enjoyed for about ten years...;" saying that the "Dukedom is to accompany this arrangement & Kent is said to be the intended title, having declined Cumberland not being at all proud of the fame left behind him by the last possessor of this title. I am to be stationed in the District commanded by Sir Wm. Pitt, of which Portsmouth is head quarters & to take my option of some central point between Weymouth, Poole, Blandford & Salisbury;" asking about the disposition of horses and sleighs in Halifax; asking about his future plans to return to England and saying he "shall be ready to forward your wishes to the utmost of my power."
