Summary
Saying he has written to the King and to the Duke of York asking to be recalled next Spring; asking for his help in finding out if he will be able to return to England; discussing an order for a Carriage which he would prefer to be "plain, neat and cheap than flashy, elegant and expensive;" discussing a memorandum about four horses, books he would like to have sent and a reflecting mirror; asking about a "patent oven" which he suggests might be better than the iron stoves that are used at Head Quarters; discussing his need for a Footman and a Postillion.
