Collection consists of 37 letters from Gwendolyn Brooks to editor William Targ or his wife, literary agent Roslyn Targ as well as one letter from Brooks to Mr. Minton and one letter to Brooks from Jody Ward (annotated with an autograph response by Brooks). Collection also contains a corrected typescript carbon of the poem Boys. Black. A preachment; 3 printed broadsides of other Brooks poems (Black Steel, Martin Luther King, Jr., and The Wall); the program for the World Heavyweight Championship match between Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali (containing the first printing of Black Steel); and Chicago Picasso Dedication (containing the first printing of For the Unveiling of the Chicago Picasso).
