Summary
Expressing his pleasure at reading his sermon at the Eastern Convocation of Massachusetts; expressing his assumption that "some time this year there will be commemorations that may help gather up the whole story of the organization of the Church in this country. There must be something yet to let out of that bag so oddly kept by good Mr. Edson;" adding that "Bishop Welles intimated to me that you shared our uneasiness about Seymour (of the [illegible] Ch). It may relieve you to know that I dropped him a few words expressing affectionately our hope that he would not allow the good of which he is capable to be hindered by any indiscretion."
