Summary
Replying to his inquiry; saying that he has never been to Oregon but believes that the German population there is not large; saying "In Nevada there are a good many Germans; some in almost every town. In Virginia City there are I presume as many as a hundred German citizens many of whom have families. Many of these do not attend any religious service, though nearly all speak English. Quite a number attend the Episcopal Church, and some the Methodist & Presbyterian Churches. I am not aware that religious services in the German language are held in any place in Nevada."
