Summary
Acknowledging receipt of the letter confirming his election to the Bishopric of Arizona and Nevada; saying "...I have delayed making any answer until this time for the reason that I have found the decision to accept, or to decline the app't, not easy, but very hard indeed. I sh'd have greatly preferred that someone else sh'd be chosen in my place. But I see not how I can honorably decline and am therefore unwillingly constrained to accept..."
