Bidding him good-bye before leaving Philadelphia; telling him that he plans to travel to Europe with his son and to reach Africa by Christmas; mentioning Bishop [John] Payne; describing his plans to build a house and schools in Liberia, and noting that his "chief work will be to train native missionaries"; thanking Stevens for his help with Auer's work in Philadelphia.
