Summary
Expressing his appreciation for him; saying "Soon it will be eight years that we have been associated together at Holy Trinity. Through all its vicissitudes & in all its successes we have worked with one will & one consent. And how all is changed. I call upon you to rejoice with me as I can upon but few others. As I look up at our beautiful spire whose gleaming cross greeted the earliest beam of the morning light, my soul overflowed at the memory of how much God has permitted us to achieve. In all this you have borne a conspicuous & honorable part which I can appreciate as no one else can. Would that the wealth were mine to send you a tribute this day of great & lasting value--As it is, I must deal with you in the coin of the heart."
