Summary
Informing him that the "Standing Committee of Ga. has again taken action in the matter of my late election by adopting a preamble & resolution to the effect that they still deem it important to the interests of the Ch. in Ga. that I sh'd become Bp. of the Diocese & therefore they request the withdrawal on my part of my letter of refusal, & desire that the whole matter be left open until January or later if necessary in the hope that it may then be in my power to yield to their wishes;" referring to his position as Rector of his parish in New Orleans, "I am very much afraid that the 'Scouting Party w'd be in a sad condition if the Captain left them without a Lieut. to take his place!"
