Summary
Referring to Perry's "Chester Committee" and telling him that he does not want to "appeal to the public in behalf of a foreign object" when his "own Church enterprises are in danger of being impeded by lack of means"; reminding him that the Foreign Missions Treasury is some $40,000 or $50,000 behind; noting that while he has a "profound respect for the Bishop of Chester" and has "always favoured everything that tended to promote good will between the two Churches and countries," he cannot be chairmain [of the Chester Committee].
