The arrangement of the collection is by Bishops in the order of their consecration and chronological within their portion of the collection. The place of writing is not given, however, in 1877 the General Convention was held in Boston.
The year of writing is not provided, however Bishop Gregg dates it "Thursday, Oct. 4th;" October 4th fell on a Thursday in 1877 and again in 1883; 1877 corresponds with the placement of this letter within the collection.
