Summary
Thanking him for his "expression of confidence and sympathy;" saying he has "shrunk from his solemn responsibilities which have been laid upon me & would have rejoiced if some worthier person had been selected for the office that I have been called to fill;" apologizing that he cannot preach at St. Andrews in Philadelphia but that his duties in Hartford and in Providence prevent him from traveling; asking if he might suggest someone to fill the vacancy at his church before he leaves for Providence.
