Summary
Saying he cannot sign his "Letter proposed to be addressed to the Southern Bishops;" saying that though he hopes that the Southern Bishops will attend the General Convention, he could not condone the presence of the Bishop of Georgia [Rev Stephen Elliott] "until he shall have explicitly recanted that public and awful appeal to the supreme judgment against all of us, as guilty of every atrocity which the war had brought forth."
