Written and signed in an unknown hand. Davis had recently gone blind and was probably having his letters written by someone else.

Sending him "the letter dimissory of the Revd. Ezra Jones"; thanking him for his "kind and sympathizing interpositions in behalf of your brethren of the South"; telling him about the loss of his sight and the death of his oldest son.
