Summary
Giving his reasons for his unwillingness to support the Alexandria Theological Seminary; saying that he signed a letter of appeal for funds but that was as far as he was willing to go; saying "Things are occurring from time to time which lead me to fear that a spirit of intolerance & a type of churchmanship are to be formed there with which I can have no sympathy;" adding that he desires "to see evidence that at Alexandria a broader catholicism is inculcated before I cast in my lot with it.--Had I seen--what I have seen since--I would not have put my name to the paper last fall..."
