Explaining that he did not answer his letter sooner because his "breast is so sore with the necessary local depletion of cupping and blistering that [he] find[s] any other than a recumbent posture painful and fatiguing"; telling him that he will mention his name in connection with the plan for a professor of French and German at the seminary; cautioning that he doubts the plan of hiring such a professor can be accomplished; discussing the seminary's finances.
