Saying he received "your reply to the Manifesto [in the Banner];" asking for an additional copy and praising him for not replying anonymously; telling him about assertions that he is "aiming at the Rectorship of Trinity Church,--and as a part of your plan, are practising a sort of 'ruse' with us here in Vermont, not intending in the end to be our Bishop....Of course I do not believe a word of it."
