Summary
Thanking him for his letter in which he represents his "brethren in the episcopate as 'generally sympathizing'. You may reply on my readiness to cooperate in any measures which are calculated to promote peace & good will. This after the painful disturbances which have so long obtained, necessarily involves much both of difficulty & of delicacy."
