Summary
Recommending to him a professor at the college who is looking for a new position; saying that "The friends of the College will be very reluctant to part with him, but the silly prejudices which prevail with regard to Northern men will probably prevent his being chosen as my successor in the College;" asking that he keep this letter confidential.
