Concerning the publication of recent proceedings; asking his opinion on the Florida election and questioning whether there were the requisite number of presbyters and whether "missionaries sustained from abroad meet the requirement of the Canon. A gentleman writes me that Dr. R[utledge]., the Bishop elect, is a man of ultra views, dry spirit and very ordinary talents. If so, he must be the very counterpart of our Bro. of the neighboring Diocese of S. Ca."
