Summary
Wishing to correct his paper of November 28th; saying he did not go to New Hampshire because of poor health but rather for domestic reasons and to "deepen the impression, not generally felt, that there was need of an Assistant & especially that the time had come when the Diocese ought not to look to Mrs. Smith to provide the Episcopal Residence: a house purchased by her with the balance which remained to her of the profits of 20 years teaching;" concluding "No! Mr. Ed: It never entered my mind to mar the record of a self sacrificing life by ever quitting the field; asking, in a postscript, that he correct his statement.
