Summary
Asking him to forward his reply to a letter from Bishop Green; saying that it was suggested that it be transmitted "by the Flag of Truce, about which you know more than I do. I suppose, however, that all communications with the Confederate States must be open to the inspection of the officials of our Government, & I have left my letter open accordingly. All are well except our [illegible] Carolina, who has an [illegible] of diphtheria, but I trust not of the worst sort."
