Summary
Asking if he might know of someone of means who could contribute to the fundraising efforts for the Seminary Library; saying he has "read with pleasure your two reviews of Jefferson and Burr;" saying he has long expressed his surprise that a review of Jefferson's letters had not been written long ago; saying that the "ignorance displayed in his letters, the contradictions between some of them & the [illegible] of principle seen in others exposed him to most just & severe criticism. I am sometimes tempted to think that it would be justifiable in his case, after exhibiting his [illegible] principles to come out with a full exhibition of their practical effect in his lascivious & adulterous & reductive life......But he is well known among us all here as "rotten to the very core."
