Bishop Meade's son, Richard, graduated from Kenyon College in 1833.
Docketed on verso and with a note, in an unknown hand, "This is from the assistant Bishop of Virginia--Wm. Meade--a man perhaps of as much importance to the welfare of our good old commonwealth as any citizen she has."
Mr Nelson served as a Congressman from Virginia from 1811-1823; served as U.S. Minister to Spain under President Monroe, 1823-1824.
