Summary
Addressing issues relating to the definition of dioceses and church canon from a correspondence between Rev. Hopkins and Bishop White; referring to 2nd canon of 1808 and stating that he believes his election to Bishop of Vermont is valid; discussing the 1st canon of 1817 and the definition of dioceses; discussing the election of Bishop Griswold in Massachusetts; concluding that "both resignations & translations are contrary to sound views, -- & that I hope the General Convention will so legislate on these subjects as that there shall be no future question on either of them."
