Summary
Discussing the possible postponement of the election of a bishop; discussing the duties of a bishop with respect to parish duties and the obligations of visitation; saying he has been called by the Vestry of the Monumental Church [Richmond] to be the assistant to the Bishop [Moore]; saying he has declined the invitation from the Norfolk congregation; saying that "I never have been and never will be a candidate for Eccles: office, content in the [illegible] to which I am providentially called, to give myself to the Work;" discussing a letter he is sending to Committee of "our Diocese" concerning a candidate for a position in a Congregation to which his temperament and demeanor seem unsuited and suggesting he would be better suited "among a plain mountain Congregation."
