Summary
Concerning an address he received from the Bishop of Maryland [William Rollingson Whittingham] to the Prelates of England requesting his signature; with respect to the church he England he says that for "whatever may be the desire to separate 'Church & state'--now of all times it is inexpedient to urge it, for reasons too obvious to need mentioning. If it were not for the civil Government of England where would be the Church of England?--It would be the Pope's Church in England without a Bible & worshiping a Made God;" discussing the Bishop of Maryland's position and expressing his disagreement with it; saying he will not be signing the address to the British Prelates.
