Summary
Expressing concern that he has not heard from him for "so many months;" asking about the state of his accounts; commenting on a report that the reception to his "Appointment to this Government" [Royal Governor of New Jersey] had not been favorable and saying that "I believe that no Governor was ever more affectionately receiv'd by all Ranks of People. Even with those from whom I might have expected opposition I am upon very good Terms. And as a convincing proof of my Influence, I have carried two Points which the Crown has long had at Heart, & which former Governors have often unsuccessfully attempted."
