Summary: 

Referring to the ongoing dispute with Warren Hastings; saying "Hastings and Barwell have pushed my ruin to the very utmost of their power, and I cannot help being of opinion they would both have acted wiser if they had shwen more moderation in victory. I still remain unbent and unbroken, without retaining one spark of malice to either of them......The interest of individuals must always yield to the necessities of the state. He who does not see this truth, sees but a little way into the history of the political world."
