Saying he had hoped to have seen him by now; saying that he has "heard no one favorable account of your situation, which circumstance, added to the doubtful state of affairs at home, make me regret exceedingly having left England, as I might have been of some little service there and in India I see no prospect of doing any thing either for you or for myself, except by waiting for a period which may be distant indeed."
